I have received additional training in trauma-informed care, providing specialized treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with past or present trauma. I understand how the scars of childhood and attachment disruptions affect individuals throughout their lives and provide the guidance and tools to heal.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and utilize a number of evidenced-based, trauma-focused modalities to find the approach that will be most effective for you.
I have the deep honor and privilege of being the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and working closely with several veteran-focused organizations. Working with our service members and veterans is my passion! I have received additional training through the Center for Deployment Psychology and am a Certified Trained Provider of Military-Focused Care through STAR Behavioral Health.
I have many years of training and experience in working with children and teens with a variety of mental health concerns. Whether your child is struggling with social or academic anxiety, depression, ADHD or ASD skills building, or trauma, we can find the approach that works best to improve their functioning and quality of life. My preferred modality in working with youth is Play Therapy to engage them in their most natural method of communication.
**At this time, I do not have the facilities needed to effectively see children under the age of 10.
Parenting is a wonderful and unique experience but can be challenging at times. Meeting the mental and emotional needs of children, while still teaching valuable life skills can be a difficult balance. While I am currently not able to serve young children, I can support parents in exploring their thoughts and feelings and provide parenting strategies to lead to a healthier home dynamic.
At Caren Cox Counseling, I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and compassionate space for all individuals. I am here to support a diverse range of human beings and do not discriminate based on race, age, religion, ability, marital status, sexual orientation, sex or gender identity.
